El palacio de Subiza. Un palacio baztanés en la Cuenca de Pamplona
Abstract
No doubt, one of the most outstanding buildings of the 18th century civil architecture in Navarra is Subiza palace. It is situated next to Pamplona and it presents the same structure that other palaces located in the distant northern Baztán and Bertiz Arana valleys. The reason of this analogy must be looked for in its promoter, Pedro Fermín Goyeneche. Although he was born in Pamplona, his father was native of Baztán. When in 1763 his granddaughter got married to Joaquín de Rada y Mutiloa, heir to Subiza palace, he decided to give a dowry to her and rebuild that palace that was a wreck, where he spent 14.000 pesos.
