Unas pruebas de oposición artística en la Pamplona de 1874
Abstract
The present study analyses the development of the civil service examinations held in 1874 in order to fill the vacancy for the subject of Figure and Ornamental Drawing at the Pamplona School of Arts and Trades.
The event had two main consequences: firstly, it initiated a set of official and social mechanisms aimed at filling the vacancy; secondly, it gave way to the arrival of the Valencian painter Eduardo Carceller. Carceller was to become a fundamental figure in the Pamplona art world.
