Abstract
After a few pages introduction and as its title suggests, this article reproduces the Campaign Diary of a “requeté” (Carlist soldier) written during the 1936-1939 civil war. Its interest derives from the fact that the notes taken by the author regarding the vicissitudes experienced during the hostilities also reflect little-known details about the day-to-day life of those on the battlefront. In a concise, direct style, he describes anything from his worries concerning food and drink to moments of leisure or sadness at the loss of brothers in arms. Certain incidents between the “requetés” and the Falangists, the severity of combat and the how the unit was received on entering recently-taken Catalonian locations are also recorded.
