La buena venida del rey Felipe II a la ciudad de Estella: Un ejemplo de fiscalidad municipal en la Navarra de 1592

Abstract

The few hours King Felipe II stayed in the city of Estella in 1592, caused some incidental expenses, leading to a massive lawsuit before the Royal Court of Navarra.
In 1592 the Town Council of Estella was forced to account for those expenses, making possible that today we might have some hint into the control mechanisms supervising the town’s life and public treasury.
In this work, the lawsuit becomes a significant source for the study of the town’s way of life in its daily surroundings.
