Abstract

In this article the author pays attention to one of the main activities developed by the merchants from Navarre in the territory of the Kingdom of Castile during the seventeenth century: the export trade of Castilian wool. He chooses for his study the region around Soria, which was then one of the main producers of wool for export in the Kingdom of Castile, and bordered with the Kingdom of Navarra. He proves that, although several merchants from Navarre already made acquisitions of wool in this region during the sixteenth century, their activity as wool exporters became important at the middle of the seventeenth century.
