Abstract

Footwear manufacturers from the so-called proto-industrial period can be considered one of the highlights of the manufacturing sector during the slow industrial process Navarre went through until the mid XX century. Above all these companies, stands López Hermanos. What started out as a small cobbler’s workshop became one of Navarre’s leading companies in both technological and economic terms.
This study sets out to provide one of the province’s least known industries with the recognition it duly deserves.
