Breve historia de la bibliografía javierana
Abstract
Scholars and bibliophiles often claim Saint Francisco Javier to be the most covered of all New Testament saints. Bibliographical references exceed 3000. There is nothing new about the task of cataloguing the books that deal with the saint. Although the “Javier” bibliography can be catalogued in many and varied ways, chronological order would appear to prove the most illuminating.
In general terms, four periods can be defined: the first, which spans texts published from the first biography up to the end of the XVII century; the second, the XVIII century in its entirety and the first half of the mid century, a somewhat blander and less original period; the third, from the MID-XIX century to 1950, which is when research...
