Abstract

“Revistas literarias IV” endeavours in its study of Navarran magazines which, in one way or another, welcomed literary creation. Neither Pregón nor Pregón Siglo XXI, let alone Arga, were publications exclusively devoted to poetry or narrative. They did, however, accommodate those Navarran writers that lacked other platforms for publication at the time. “Pregón” was published from 1944 to 1979 (132 issues) and the sections in the magazine covered Art, Literature, Landscape, Traditions and Customs. The Literature section published both prose and poetry. The prose is replete with direct, simple language unable to divorce itself from a “costumbrismo” style which wavers somewhere between tenderness and the picaresque.
