La capilla Barbazana en la catedral de Pamplona. Una aproximación a su traza

  • Vicente Galbete Martinicorena [Spain]

Abstract

The Barbazana chapel was built in the mid XIV century within the cloisters of Pamplona Cathedral. The interior of the enclosure was conceived as a kind of chapterhouse, while the outside formed a defensive turret and watchtower as part of the fortifications that defended Navarrería.
Its primitive aspect has, for different reasons, undergone modifications over the centuries; it was lowered, its roof altered and the original walkway removed.
The article attempts to take us back to its original state and then through the different stages of its evolution.
