Examen de la conquista castellana. La introspección de los cronistas navarros (siglos XVI-XVII)
Abstract
A 1512 Castilian-Aragonese invasion anticipated the definitive incorporation of the greater part of the kingdom of Navarre into the emerging "Spanish Monarchy". However, despite perhaps being the most immediate term to come to mind, the concept of "conquest" fails to explain events between 1512 and 1524 satisfactorily and both Navarran and Spanish chroniclers and jurists also looked towards the ideas of "restoration" and "establishment". Intellectual reflection as to the meaning of this "war of Navarre" and its political implications remained in a lively state until the first years of the XVIII century.
