The Epistolary Dialogue between Ángel Martínez and Ignacio Ellacuría
Abstract
Ángel Martínez Baigorri (1899-1971) and Ignacio Ellacuría (1930-1989) developed an intense and deep epistolar dialogue between 1951 and 1963, about the nature of poetry and its proximity to philosophy. In the epistolar dialogue’s intimacy, both jesuits show their innermost features as human beings, believers and thinkers. It is a dialogue between master and disciple, and a philosophical and mystical exchange, which allows us to peer into unknown features of both of them and discover the reach and depth of the navarrian poet’s influence on Ellacuría.
