Abstract

This paper deals with the main hydraulic facilities exploitation forms during the Middle Ages in Navarrese towns. There were three different contractual types which were standard leases, contratos censales –a particular long-term tenancy agreements– and the so-called “direct managements” with employees. Each of these similar options was agreed according to the relevant water installation and specially depending on the socio-economic context.
