Abstract

The paraheraldic system, which was born under the reigns of Charles ii and especially Charles III, kings of Navarre, over the XIV and XV centuries, was inherited by the Prince of Viana (1421-1461). As personal symbols, heraldic devices are the representation of the character, psychology, beliefs and personal or political situation of a certain historical figure, something that is particularly evident in the case of the Prince of Viana. This research aims to be a detailed analysis of the heraldic devices of Carlos de Viana to get a better understanding of the character and the events he was at the center of.
