Abstract

The «cultural turn» in the social sciences has enriched the study of the political culture and the possibilities of the dramaturgical approach. This article takes into account an approximation to the question of the collective identity of Navarre from this crossed perspective. Assuming the constitutive elements of a political culture, as well as the typical phases of the social drama, we propose an understanding of the political culture as the distillation of the historical succession of social dramas, applying this hypothesis to the case of Navarre. Once the principal positions of this process are identified and the high events of the cultural representations in Navarre established, with his actors and narratives, they acquire new meaning and reality considering these the keys of the navarrese identity: the ‘continuum’ of identity, the memory of the Old Kingdom, the statutory agreement and the imperative of the loyalty.
