Abstract

This work summarizes the key points in the biography of John Baptist de Iturralde, born in 1674 in the small town of Arizcun, Navarra, in the valley of Baztan. Very young he went to Madrid led by family networks to be employed in the administrative machinery of the monarchy. Taking advantage of the opportunities, friendships and an undeniable capacity for business achieved a large fortune and became Finance Minister under the king Philip Vth.
