Abstract

The appearance of Raymond of Saint Gaudens in a document of 1135 and its possible identification with St. Raymond of Fitero, founder of the first Cistercian monastery in the Iberian Peninsula and the Military Order of Calatrava, could help to better understand the historical context in which these events occurred, rolling back over five years the first news so far known about the Patron Saint of the village of Fitero and how the border between Castile and the new splinter kingdoms of Aragon and Pamplona was settled.
