Clientela de un platero pamplonés del siglo XVI a la luz de unos pleitos inquisitoriales [Clientele of a silversmith of Pamplona of the 16th century in the light of some inquisitorial lawsuits]
Abstract
In 1565 Roberto de León was condemned by the Court of the Inquisition of Navarre. Few data about his life are known. He was a silversmith born in Paris and neighbour of Pamplona from 1550. Following the sentence the Inquisition seized all his goods. This fact generated inconveniences to his clientele, which saw his orders impeded. Two of them, Francisco de Atondo and Elena Cruzat, claimed their jewels to the Inquisition. Two fiscal lawsuits were opened to verify the origin of the previously mentioned jewels. These lawsuits offer a broad information about clientele, works of goldwork and inventory of the silversmith that reflect the history of the Navarre goldwork at the 16th century.
