Abstract

The present work deals with the figure of the unknown painter-gilder Juan Ochoa de Arín (1600-1652), born and bred in the town of Arbizu (Navarre), and member of an important dinasty of Modern Age painters. His output is mainly located in the bishopric of Pamplona and specifically in the Main Archpriesthood, which spans the largest part of Gipuzkoa. His artwork is focused on the polychromy of wooden sculptures and altarpieces. The wide documentation that we have found let us know in depth the environment in which these works were made.
