Abstract

This article deals with the creation and development of the so-called School of Organists of Navarra, and with the role carried on by the organist Miguel Echeveste Arrieta. According with the documents kept in the Archivo Municipal de Pamplona and in the Archivo General de Navarra, the School of organists of Navarra began on 1926 as a personal project of Miguel Echeveste with the enthusiastic approval of Mateo Múgica, bishop of Pamplona. After receiving the support of the council of Pamplona and the Diputación of Navarra, it was established in the same building of the Academia Municipal de Música of Pamplona, firstly as an independent institution, and later as a part of the academic structure of this school.
