Abstract

The analysis of major events related to the Monarchy, whether in the form of visits or royal funerals, allow us to deepen in the patterns of conduct in Pamplona in the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, both in the scope of protocol and ceremonial, as in the ephemeral art. This latter will remain a fundamental element of the public celebrations of this period, so urban and sacred space are transformed for a few days with the clear purpose of royal exaltation: by triumphal arches and catafalques in mourning clothes, the ruling classes will participate to the people of slogans for the king, true instigator of peace, social order and economic welfare.
