Abstract

Two paintings representing St. Ambrose of Milan and St. Jerome, which are preserved in the Sacristy of Beneficiados of the Cathedral of Saint Mary in Pamplona, have traditionally been attributed to an anonymous painter. However, comparative methods based on three other paintings depicting the same iconography from the County Council of Toledo suggest they could have been painted by the French painter Claude Vignon (1593-1670). This article also brings the opportunity to study the impact of Caravaggio’s models in Spain during the first half of the 17th century.
