Abstract

The article tries to make known one of the most important industries in Navarra in the field of vegetable canning, known as Muerza Industries. Established at the end of the XIXth. century in San Adrian (Navarra) by Maximo Muerza, this workshop very early stood out in the canning sector, because it came from an area where the quality of its agricultural products, as did the natural surroundings, promoted the creation of some agri-chain industries which were compelled to be outstanding in the limited industrial scene of Navarra. One of the men who laid the foundations of this industrial sector was Maximo Muerza, whose descendants increased the importance of what started as a humble workshop.
