Abstract

The subfond named Cuentas de los pueblos is now in the process of being arranged and given a description by the archivists of the Royal and General Archive of Navarre (AGN). There are approximately 1,500 boxes which contain the records produced by the Royal Council of Navarre regarding the exercise of its administrative jurisdiction throughout the towns within the kingdom. They date back to the end of the seventeenth century all the way up to the beginning of the nineteenth century. Due to the contents of the information, as well as the juicios de residencia, this subfond is essential for studying the local history of Navarre.
