Abstract

Our sources don´t give us many testimonies about the Vascones that migrated from eight cities of Vasconia, the majority of them during the High Empire. There are a lot of soldiers, but they also carried out other activities such as administative, relogious, economic and social relationships. Calagurris and Pompaelo are the cities that give us more documentation, specially the first city whose citizens put into practice all the previous activities. The interaction between the Vascones and Rome is evident, because Vascones relatively enough educated were integrated in the roman culture. Sometimes they were identified through their place of origin generating personal names formed from the ethnical name (Vasco and Vasconius).
