Abstract

Francisco Javier Vergara Ciordia (Allo, Navarra, 1958) graduated in Philosophy (1981), Section Philosophy and Educational Sciences at the Pontifical University of Salamanca with Honours Degree. He holds a PhD in History of Education at the University of Navarra (1986), also with Honours. He is currently Professor in the Department of History of Education and Comparative Education at the National University of Distance Education in Madrid (UNED) and Visiting Professor at the University of Navarra. Was Fellow Researcher Institutum Historicum Societatis Iesu in Rome (IHSI) and since 2005 Director of the Group of Medieval and Renaissance Studies (GEMYR). This study shows not only political but also cultural relations, of Navarre with France and Castile. It is situated in the context of contributions to the history of late medieval Education, published under the direction of Prof. Vergara Ciordia by the Group for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (GEMYR).
