Abstract

One of the recurring elements in the Art of silversmith in Navarre is the presence of artworks that comes from foreign workshops. Throughout the centuries of the Old Regime they are going to become important the artworks that came from Italy, specifically from Rome, Sicily, in the viceroyalty of Naples, and the Duchy of Milan. From the first one arrives a type of reliquary very showy and ornamental, but of little economic value, because they were wrought with a fine plate of silver, that was applied on a wood structure. Are also highly decorative the artworks of Sicilian origin, carried out in silver filigree or coral, and finally, from the Duchy of Milan are a number of medallions painted in grisaille that

imitate enamel.
