Abstract

The Municipal Archive of Pamplona is one of the municipal institution’s oldest known services and was already taken into consideration in 1423 when King Carlos III the Noble provided the city of Pamplona with a new system of organisation following the Union of the Burghs. Following a brief history of its origins, the most emblematic holdings and collections that it conserves are listed, the actions and activities performed to tend to users and develop its cultural functions are described, and its shortcomings are highlighted, before concluding with reference to the need to design a Multiannual Strategic Plan.
