Abstract

The Dirección General de Justicia of the Gobierno de Navarra assumed the management of judicial records and archives on October 1999, when the personnel and economic competences of Justice were transferred to Navarre. Seventeen years after that, this article takes stock of the current state of judicial archives. Among other things, it describes the general situation of archival fonds, the adoption of new technologies, the status of archive stores, the human resources and the access conditions. Finally, it identifies areas for improvement and main challenges to be faced, such as the implementation of the court electronic files.
