Abstract

The Capuchin P. Tomás de Burgui was a reputed theologian, writer and aide to the bishops of the 18th century who, at the request of the Valley of Roncal, presented a brief against the introduction of customs between France and Spain in Navarre, as planned by the different Bourbon Governments, before the Courts of Navarre in 1757. The article describes the history and content of the text, published in Pamplona. P. Tomás put forward the nobleness of the people of Roncal and their contributions to the various wars and conflicts as reasons as to why they had always enjoyed the free movement of products with France.
