Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyse the boundary discourse developed in Navarre during the Early Modern period, for which we take advantage of a large bibliography –which had partially mentioned these discourses– and archival documents, which allow us to study its evolution. Even though the discourse took shape at the end of the medieval period, was from the 16th to the 18th centuries when it reached its highest peak. The discourse evolved over time depending on international policy, but at the same time on the relationship between the neighbouring communities from both parts of the border.
