Navarra en 1812 y la Constitución gaditana [Navarre in 1812 and the Cadiz Constitution]
Abstract
The Independence War forced the fall of the Ancient Regime in Navarre, while the political institutions of the Kingdom became obsolete and were changed by others. The reason why the change took place was the new liberal ideas, which were in sight since the beginning of the xixth century and were carried out in the Cadiz Constitution of 1812. As well, the centralism of the Bourbons Kingdom, the illustrated ideas of Godoy and Napoleonic Governments allowed the collapse of the Kingdom of Navarre. The year 1812 is crucial to understand this transformation, being the same year an inflection point in the Independence War, due to the beginning of the decline of the French in Navarre.
