Personal jewellery, ornaments for the house and books for the soul: the inventory of the property of the Dukes of Granada de Ega in the XVIII century

Abstract

The death of Isabel Aznárez de Garro, countess of Javier, in 1754, and her husband, Antonio Idiáquez, duke of Granada de Ega, in 1755 has brought out two important inventories containing the household goods and personal effects from their family property in Estella. It is an approach to study their way of life, their habits and their mentalities. They have owned gold and silver jewellery, and precious stones to adorne themselves, and also a very important collection of silver dinner service. The household was decorated with lavish tapestries, carpets, textiles and lots of pieces of forniture placed in the primitiva Hall. There were a lot of pictures, most of them with religious subject...
