The ritual of holiday Navarra analyzed don Julio Caro Baroja, their similarities and differences with other rituals in different places of the Spanish geography
Abstract
The present lecture, prepared for the centennial of Julio Caro Baroja, tries to analyse certain rituals linked to the carnival period, which was deeply researched by the mentioned writer. In fact it is about the carnival of Lantz, Ituren and Zubieta, villages located in Navarre. Mr. Caro Baroja published about them and due to his work it was posible to revitalize some almost lost festivities, as it happened, for instance, in Lantz. Another celebration included, now in castilian territory, is the endiablada (Devils party) of Almonacid del Marquesado, Cuenca, that Mr. Caro Baroja also looked into.
