Abstract

Taking the importance of causal clauses into account, and given that up until now the analysis of the way in which this type of clause is used by the writer Enrike Zubiri “Manezaundi” has been only partial, in this article we proposed to carry out an exhaustive analysis of how they are constructed by this author. After specifying the frequency with which each type is used, we proceeded to classify them all. We then present all the types of causal clauses used -both those considered to be strictly causal, as well as those with an intermediate value between causal and another different type- and, by way of an example, some of the clauses taken from his texts accompanied by explanations and opinions of different linguists regarding each type are included. Finally, we also present clauses employed in the translations carried out in the Low Navarrese dialect by Cazenave and other translators, at the request of Bonaparte at the end of the 19th century, with the aim of comparing them with those used by Manezaundi, and defining his use of them.
