Abstract

This paper analyses a document created in 1934 by the Catholic Parents Association containing data related to the religiosity, morality, press read by and political affiliation of the state school teachers of Navarre. It was written to guide Catholic counsellors in the appointment of new teachers. In 1936, this document served as an ideological frontier becoming the basic information used for the repression carried out by the Senior Board of Education. We include a list of punished teachers, imputed charges and preliminary and final  anctions, uncovering the contradictions arising from the use of the data for purposes different to those originally envisaged.
