Abstract
In 1984, Gustav Henningsen published a book in Danish entitled From witch hunt to witch cult. 1484-1984* which had a great impact on international studies of the anthropological and historical phenomenon of witchcraft. It addressed the subject in all its European spatial dimension and chronological density. The work stirred great interest, as reflected in the many enthusiastic reviews it received, but, as it was published in Danish in Copenhagen, passed unnoticed in Spain. Early on in his career, Gustav Henningsen showed two of his great qualities as a researcher: access to primary documentary sources and complementing these with other equally valuable materials, such as illustrations.
