Bibliography published to commemorate the V Centenary of the birth of Saint Francis Xavier

Abstract

The great quantity of monographs published on different matters concerning Saint Francis Xavier to commemorate the V Centenary of his birth and the great many articles written on subjects related to Javier in a wide range of languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German and English, not to mention other Spanish languages like Catalan and Basque, give a fairly good idea of the enormous repercussion that the celebration has had in the Christian world, demonstrating once again the extraordinary popularity of the Navarrese saint. The bibliography published as a result of the event has hugely surpassed expectations, with 89 books published in seven languages, 130 contributions, papers and chapters in books by various authors and at conferences, and 182 articles in 60 journals. Between books, contributions, papers and articles in books by various authors, 408 bibliographical references have been counted. In order to study all this material on Javier, the work has been divided into four sections: monographic books written by single authors, books by various authors, books from conferences and articles in journals, studying and qualifying the different bibliographical references.
