Abstract

This contribution studies the presence of Navarra in the religious musical activity in Huéscar, from the 15th century to the 17th century. Firstly, the article analyses the historical events which related Navarra with Huéscar and which favored the arrival of people from Navarra to the village since the end of the 15th century. Next, it describes the churches of Huéscar and the musical activity developed there during the chronology that the article comprises. Then, it considers the religious celebrations established by people from Navarra in the churches of the village and their musical interpretation. Finally, it studies the people from Navarra who worked as musicians in Huéscar.
