Abstract

Pablo Sarasate’s intense, extensive musical career brought him into contact

and, in many cases, led to his friendship with a wide cross-section of the

artistic community, both in Spain and abroad. Logically, most of these

friendships were forged with composers and players of music. The violinist’s

comings and goings, however, also fortunately meant that he crossed paths

with a wide range of artists. This was reflected not only in Sarasate’s interest

in the work of painters, sculptors, drawers and photographers, but also in the

admiration and appreciation which these artists showed the maestro in due

return for his art in the form of different portraits and works of art ...
