El desaparecido retablo de San Sebastián y Santa Ana de Cintruénigo

  • Alberto J. Aceldegui Apesteguía [Spain]

Abstract

The reredos of San Sebastián and Santa Ana in Cintruénigo was made in the last quarter of the xv century in a workshop which in all probability belonged to the painter of the reredos in Barillas –Nicolás de Zahortiga–. The work was installed in a local chapel, but in the xx century, when the chapel fell to ruins, it was moved to the local parish church, from which it disappeared in the Fifties or the Sixties without leaving a trace. In 2005, a fragment which must have belonged to the reredos’ original frame was found with images of San Felipe, San Pablo, Santa María Dolorosa and a fragment of an Angel.
