El maestro Ciga visto por sus discípulos

  • Francisco Javier Zubiaur Carreño [Spain]

Abstract

One of the most interesting facets in the life of the Pamplona painter Javier Ciga Echandi (1877-1960) was his work teaching art. The article explains the origin of his private school, its two locations, how it worked and the method used. But the peculiarity of the approach chosen resides in its offering a vision of the master from the point of view of his students, while also analysing the inheritance he received. Without the contribution of Ciga to teaching art, the vitality of contemporary art in Navarra would be hard to explain.
