Abstract

Of the four Jewish communities in Navarra’s market towns, the Sangüesa community reveals the obscurest origins and most turbulent history. In 1988, we tried to provide an initial image of this Jewish quarter, as seen from a very specific viewpoint: credit and other trading transactions with the town’s Christian community according to information from the only source known at the time: the nigh-on one hundred letters in the 1363 stamp register of Pero Andreo, the King’s Keeper of the Seal.
