Abstract

This article takes a historical trip through the area known as “Ezpeleta”, on the banks of the River Arga, downstream from Huarte. Special attention is paid to the exploitation of the natural resources found in the area, where dams, irrigation ditches, mills, fulling mills, defensive walls, stockades, a bridge and an important tower were built beside the vegetable gardens, groves, orchards, pastures, agricultural land, vineyards, woods and gardens. The age of certain  milling and agricultural practices -quoted from at least the XI century- and the furious activity of the XV-XVI and XIX-XX centuries should be highlighted. The line of owners included the Crown, the monks from Leire and Roncesvalles, the  nobles of the Motza-Ezpeleta line and, finally, several locals from...
