Abstract

In the last third of 19th century and the first third of 20th century, the migratory phenomenon to America was really intense in Navarre. Although we can find some nuances that differentiate it, Navarrese emigration follows the general rules of other regions as Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria or Basque Country. Northern valleys are the main place of departure of many Navarrese emigrants, whose more majority destination was Argentina, and on a smaller scale Mexico, Cuba, Peru or Philippines. The result of the enrichment and return of the emigrants gone to America is a rich legacy of buildings and monuments that becomes the best testimony of their success.
