Los médicos judíos y su actividad en el reino de Navarra, 1349-1425
Abstract
Jewish physicians in Navarre excelled in their medical work. They offered good medical treatment to their royal patients. To achieve the best results, they combined medications of external use with medications taken orally. Apparently, most of their medicines were composed from mineral salts and solutions, many of which are unfamiliar to us nowadays. The Jewish physicians enjoyed high professional prestige, but surprisingly, this had no direct and clear-cut correlation with their social and political status in the realm. Most of them lacked the basic financial wealth required and, as a result, were pushed aside from all centres of power and influence.
