Abstract

The debate regarding the acceptance of the term architect and his professional activities during the period of Baroque Spain is something that has been studied in relation to other professions linked to design and architectural and altarpiece projects. The lawsuit brought in Pamplona in 1700, which is analyzed here in this work, gives us a good idea of the kind of friction arising between architects and assembly workers at that time, bearing in mind that two different stances may be observed. The former were defended in the main by those forming part of the all-powerful guild of San José.
