La población navarra a comienzos del siglo XVI: el Recuento de casas de 1514
Abstract
The finding of the Survey of houses the Lord of Góngora achieved, with financial aim, enriches the privileged outlook of quantitative sources that make the study of the navarrese population possible. This provides us the number of “houses” (comparable to the concept of “families”) of a lot of localities, what enlightens the large period that goes from the recounts in 1427-1428 to the one in 1553, which we lack information about, until today. Likewise, from the study of these data we can infer that, population would have reached 22.000-23.000 houses in 1514, and also that besides what it has been considered until today, the demographic recovery of the kingdom was plenty consolidated some time before the castilian conquest (1512-1524).
