Abstract

The assassination of Sancho iv Garcés in 1076 unleashed a series of political movements which ended with Sancho Ramírez of Aragon as new king of Pamplona, and with the territories of Pamplona located in the south of the Ebro within the jurisdiction of the Castilian king Alfonso vi. Through the following lines we are going to show the sociopolitical causes which unleashed this event and the territorial repercussions in the areas of Pamplona annexed by the kingdom of Castile after that date. Thus, we are going to talk about the tools used by the monarchs of this period for the feudal-administrative organization of the conquered territories through the example of Alfonso VI.
