Abstract

This article analyses of various educational topics from the Society of Jesus in Pamplona between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Its based on documents about record books and registration books of the College of Pamplona, preserved in the National Historical Archive. The work confirms that in Spain there was a positive response to humanistic studies, much higher than in other European countries. At the same time this response occurred in Navarre was stronger than in Castilla. This situation was due to the local tradition, its strong economic dynamism and especially to the design and meaning of the College of the Annunciation of Pamplona.
