Abstract

During the Spanish Independence War (1808-1914), the richest treasures that the Navarrian churches had accumulated during ages, suffered important looses because of three main reasons. One of these reasons was that the towns where the churches were located requested this silver to pay the taxes that the French government ask them. Other reason was that the soldiers and the guerrilla plundered those churches looking for jewels. And finally, there were groups of thieves that during this period assaulted Navarrian churches searching for silver.
